OK folks - I've been in the business, now retired. In my opinion, the Elna Silmic RFS II capacitors were the finest audio capacitors ever made - better than Black Gate NXs. Yes, that's true. I just sold several Black Gate NXs here on Ebay and elsewhere over the last few months for over $100 each. I've used both and know what they sound like. Yes, the Elna Silmic RFS II capacitors sound better and I've used them in several amps and DACs after trying the Black Gate NXs. These are better. This particular size (47uf, 6.3V - 6.3mm dia. x 11mm long) is perfect for the output on small DACs and the uf rating far exceeds anything you would need to avoid bass-filtering when connecting to an amp. Even small portable headphone amplifiers have at least a 10K volume pot. With the 47uf of the Elnas here, the resulting RC circuit formed with a 10K pot in an amplifier has a -3dB cutoff frequency of 0.3386 Hz!! This means you will NEVER lose any bass with these caps in that configuration. 50K and 100K pots would be near DC in frequency cutoff, as if 0.3386 Hz is not close enough already. Audiophile grade electrolytic capacitors are getting scarce. The Elna Silmic RFS II are no longer made and have become unobtainium. Buy these while you still can ... NOTE: I don't know what is going with Ebay with Elna Silmic RFS II capacitors in black and gold wrappers. With the exception of a couple, all the listings on Ebay are showing photographs of Elna Silmic RFS II capacitors in black and gold wrappers. Maybe I've been out of circulation for a while and Elna Silmic RFS II used black and gold wrappers at some point - but I've never seen them. Regular Elna non-audio grade - yes - use black and gold wrappers. Silmic RFS II capacitors - to the best of my knowledge - have always been brown with a gray stripe as pictured above - even the huge ones at 1000uf and 50V which I've also used in the past were brown with a gray stripe!! That comes from years of purchasing these capacitors from Mouser and DigiKey. I don't want to accuse these other sellers as having fakes, but I've never seen Silmic RFS II in black and gold. Check my other listing for Nichicon ES and FG capacitors at 470uf 35V and 1000uf 35V, respectively. I'm a USA Seller and recently retired from Beezar Audio.
