During 1919 he arrived in New York City where he initially worked in an engraving shop. Boris's earliest artwork appeared as a book illutratori in 1922. Over Artzybasheff's career he illustrated some 50 books before devoting himself in 1940 to solely magazine art including over 200 Time covers between 1941 and 1965.
