This lot is for a NICE old Spanish Colonial Pirate Era "" 2 BITS "" COB Coin with some NICE details showing (LOT #60 / inv. code #xa+). Comes in a nice hard plastic Slab like holder. THIS COIN SHOWS FAR MORE DETAILS THAN USUALLY SEEN ON THESE "2 Bit" COINS!! Most are very worn with little details, this one is super nice! 2 " BITS " came from Dollar Coins that were cut up into ''bits'' as there was a lack of coins back then & this way you could buy goods for under a buck without needing change. They would typically cut a Dollar Coin into 4 or sometimes 8 pieces making them bits of the Dollar. SO 2 bits = a quarter, 4 bits have a buck etc. These types of coins were made in the late 1,400's into the 1,600's. Coin has some details, more than most for a coin that's OVER 300 hundred years old! Coin is about the size of a US Dime. Not sure of exact date but we do know these are from the 1400's-1600's. Our lack of knowledge could be your gain! Coin has normal wear for age & condition. We think this is a decent looking coin for being this old but since this is a NO RESERVE BUY IT NOW LOT please see photo's & judge for yourself.
