It was struck at the Copenhagen mint in 1751 during the reign of King Frederick V. He was King from 1746 until his death at just age 42 in 1766. Frederick died at the age of forty-two, after a twenty-year reign. He had been a pleasant ruler compared to the pious Christian VI. When Frederick died there were many who mourned. His last words were reportedly: "It is a great consolation to me in my last hour that I have never willfully offended anyone, and that there is not a drop of blood on my hands." Weight: 9.01 Grams, 30 Millimeters, .562 Silver. Mintage: Unknown. "Standard Catalog of World Coins" (1701-1800) by Krause-Mishler. #580. Obverse: FRIDERIC • V • D. • G. • REX • DAN • NOR • V. • G. • REX • Frideric V, by the grace of God, King of Denmark, Norway, Vendalia and Gothland. • Armored bust right. Reverse: 24 • SKILLING • DANSKE • COUR • M • Twenty-four Skillings of current Danish money. • P. N. • V. H. is the mark used by the mint master at the Copenhagen mint, Peter Nicholai van Haven, from 1749 until 1761 • Date, 1751, divided by crowned arms. These, with the mint master’s initials, were only struck in two years, 1750 and 1751. Both are quite scarce, but this 1751 is scarcer and valued higher. Please see the catalog. The Coin: A worker, it served as the medium in enough exchanges to earn some moderate, honest wear and its share of marks.
