Description: I have here for sale a book about THE DOMESDAY BOOK ILLUSTRATED by Robert Kelham published by Edward Brooke in 1788. Containing four chapters: I. An Account of Domesday Book. II. A List of all the Tenants in Capite, or Serjanty, in the order they are set down therein, at the head of each County; with references to the pages where to be found; also an Account, who many of those Tenants were. III. The difficult passages selected and translated, with occasional notes; and the terms, abbreviations, and names of Foreign Abbies explained. IV. A Table of all the Tenants in Capite, or Serjanty, placed in alphabetical order; with references to every part of the Survey, where the same Tenants held lands in different Counties. The introductory page and Title page are missing and no publishing or author information is evident. Thought to be published 1788. Full title is Domesday Book Illustrated: containing an account of that antient record; as also, of the tenants in capite or serjanty therein mentioned : and a translation of the difficult passages, with occasional notes, an explanation of the terms, abbreviations, and names of foreign abbies, and an alphabetical table of the tenants in capite or serjanty in the several counties contained in that surveyTan leather board with front board missing and rear board detached.
