The eighth edition of 1796. The History of Sir Charles Grandison was written by Richardson after many of his female friends demanded a morally good gentleman to oppose the characters of Mr Lovelace and Mr B. It was also a response to Henry Fielding's The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, which parodied the morals presented in Richardson's previous novels. Following the heroic acts and life of the fictional character of Charles Grandison. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume. ESTC Reference T58986 CONDITION In a full marbled calf binding.
