Description: About this listing - This listing is for the Turpin Flore Medicale print(s) shown. Because every monitor displays differently, expect that there will be some variance between what you see on the monitor and how the print will look in your hands. The image of the print posted on this listing is as representative of the actual print as I could make it. The print is in good condition overall. As the print is over 200 years old some paper foxing, toning and other minor defects should be expected & may be present. About the work - Turpin was one of the greatest botanical painters of his time. Largely self taught, he was inspired by the botanical painter Poiteau (1776 ? 1854) who became a life long friend. After a colorful early period he settled in Paris to collaborate on many fine works including Francois Pierre Chaumeton?s Flore Medicale, published in seven volumes in Paris in 1815, then again with the assistance of his wife in 1830-1831. The print is in good condition on lightly toned to toned paper. The plates are beautifully executed stipple engravings in very fine detail, finished by hand. Each print measures approximately 5 inches wide by 7 3/4 inches long. Please review the photos carefully as they are very accurate. Condition notes for this listing - The print is in good condition overall. As the print is approximately 208 years old some paper foxing, toning and other minor defects should be expected & may be present.
