Jose Ramon Pacheco (1804-1865) was a Mexican professor, writer, lawyer and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Among his many accomplishments was to introduce the study of phrenology to Mexico with this work, Esposicion Sumaria del Sistema Frenológico del Doctor Gall, which is considered the first book on the subject published in Mexico. There are two folding plates at the rear of the text, the first illustrating parts of the brain, the second analyzing the skull structure of famous men such as Roger Bacon and Immanuel Kant.
