Size: letter (page size) 8vo (22.5cm x 18.5cm) / watercolour 15.2cm x 12.8cm.Very Good (letter) to Near Fine (watercolour) condition. Two small holes to central fold, no text affected. Light age-toning. Folds (presumably for mailing). Pale residue of mounting glue to the verso of the watercolour. Sidney professes his anguish at being separated from Miss Fanny Scott, which is accompanied by a watercolour of the subject. The commonplace album that this letter and watercolour came from contained evidence suggesting that such was her renowned beauty that Miss Scott may also have attracted the amorous attention of the Duke of Wellington (although she is not cited in the definitive source book on the duke's mistresses). key words:
