Johnson, Published by Carey and Hart, Philadelphia, PA, 1844, fully leather bound, 17 plates with additional smaller illustrations, 1165 pages + 16 page advertising section. Age - Published in 1844. Measurements - 9 1/2" x 6" x 2 5/8" - 3 pounds 12 ounces Condition - Good, some peeling to the leather boards, tight binding, no cracking to the hinges, light pencil inscription, foxing throughout, all plates present, missing the end page at the rear, otherwise complete, easily browsed. Condition Grades: As New: The book is in the same immaculate condition as when it was published. This could be the description for a book that has been kept in a warehouse for years, never shelved, thumbed or even opened yet may still be some years old. Fine or Near Fine: A Fine book approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. The book may have been opened and read, but there are no defects to the book, jacket or pages. Very Good : Describes a book that shows some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Good: Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Fair: A worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc.. Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn.
