Description: Here we have a nice 14 karat white gold basket style pendant with chain. The pendant features an oval natural green sapphire that measures 9.0 - 5.9 x 3.6 mm and weighs 1.85 carats. The gem is an interesting, deep bluish green color and is eye clean in clarity with good overall cut. There is some color zoning in the gem (areas of concentrated color and lack of color) that you can notice as you tilt the gem and look at it at different angles. Most sapphires are heat treated and we assume that this gem has undergone this treatment; but this is a genuine, natural, earth mined gemstone! Sapphire is September's birthstone, but this classic piece is a joy to own and wear regardless of your birth month! The pendant mounting is generic and unbranded; it measures approximately 14 x 6 mm overall. The chain is a pendant style rope chain finished to 18 inches in length and held with a spring ring clasp. The chain was purchased from Quality Gold of Cincinnati. The chain can easily be changed, and without alteration the bail will accept up to about a 1.5 mm diameter chain. The pendant weighs 1.0 gram and the chain weighs 0.5 gram for a total of approximately 1.5 grams. The pendant and the chain are both solid 14 karat white gold and new; don't be duped into buying a gold plated piece or some else's worn out castoff!
