Description: Presented is an elegant Russian silver sugar bowl from 1855. The piece has a classic footed form with two cast and applied handles shaped as branches with flowers, similar to morning glories or other trumpet type flowers. The bowl has an elegant vertical fluted or lobed type of form, with an undulating rim, giving the bowl the overall look of a flower from above, much like those on the handles. Though this piece was likely made as a sugar bowl, the bowl could be used for whatever you like, due to its versatile size and design. The underside is marked with Russian hallmarks; the 84 mark for .875 purity silver, the city mark for St. Petersburg, and the assay mark for 1855 Aleksandr Nikolayevich Mitin. There is also a maker's mark that we have been told is the maker Nicolay Nikitin. This piece is in excellent condition. The decorations are crisp. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no repairs.
