Description: New Hampshire This is a small map from a volume published in New York in 1855, titled The World Geographical, Historical and Statistical, written by Charles C. Savage. The map is of the state of New Hampshire, drawn to a scale of about 13 miles to the inch. It measures 5.5 x 9 inches in size. The page is printed in without any color and has a couple light aging spots, but is excellent and very attractive condition (see photos). The counties of the state are outlined and identified, and the map shows numerous towns, lakes, mountains, and four rail lines. The book included three pages with text about the state of New Hampshire, and photocopies of that material will be included. These pages described the numerous aspects of the state as it existed in the 1850s, in the pre-Civil War era, in these categories: "Physical Aspect"; "Mountains"; "Rivers, Lakes and Bays"; "Islands"; "Climate"; "Cities and Chief Towns"; "Productive Resources"; "Manufactures"; "Railroads and Canals"; "Commerce"; "Education"; "Population"; "History"; and "Government." _gsrx_vers_1680 (GS 9.8.3 (1680))
