Description: Condition is used, good with foxing, slightly rough binding edge. Measures approximately 10.5" x 7" smaller print, blank back. Comment: Edward Loomis Davenport (1816-1877) was an American actor from Boston. Recovered from a Victorian era book, that was in ill repair. "The Complete Works of Shakespeare" published by Johnson, Fry and Company, by authors Halliwell, Knight and Collier. The book was illustrated with steel engravings, portraits in character of mainly celebrated American actors in Shakespearean theater. These are original old prints and not copies. You can see they have one salvage edge from where they were removed from the book. These rich tone black and white engravings are well detailed. The name of the real actor and the part he or she is playing is in the text below picture, as well as the name of particular play and exact scene shown. In small print at bottom is the "Johnson Fry & Co. " name and 1859 date Most items are Vintage, Antique or Used, purchased at auctions and estate sales, as such the item may have some signs of use.
