Description: Stereoview photograph of trees and city buildings blanketed by snow in Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1860s. No photographer or publisher identified, but this is by John P. Soule of Boston. The view, identified with a pasted on label on the back as Old City Hall, Boston, shows trees and fences in the foreground under a few inches of snow with snow covered buildings rising up behind them. The Old City Hall (replaced in 1865) and the Franklin Statue are to the right. The Dennis Collection at the NYPL has this same stereoview attributed to Soule. The stereoview is in good or better condition with only light wear and soiling. The photographs exhibit good tonal range and show good or better detail. A nice early Boston MA image!
