Description: For sale is a very nice 1864 Two Cent Piece. The Two Cent Piece was minted 1864 to 1873. Many people didn't even know that there was such a thing as Two Cent Pieces. That is because they were a pretty short-lived coin only being minted for less than 9 years. This was the very first US coin to also feature the phrase "In God We Trust." Because they are so scarce Two Cent Pieces are valuable coins, even in lower grades.As you can see from the pics the coin is in really nice shape, and it would come in at a very decent XF grade, which is really tough to find these coins in because they were such heavily circulated coins. The date and images are present and bold on both sides. The motto on the obverse, including the word "WE" which wears off on these coins quickly even on high grade coins, is present and bold. All lettering and images are very sharp, including most of the fine lines on the shield on the obverse, a sign of a high grade coin. The coin's biggest flaw is it does some have environmental "greening" to it, which is very common with old pure copper coins. I did reduce the price of the coin nicely due to the greening, otherwise it would be priced MUCH higher.You don't see a lot of Two Cent Pieces out there, especially in high grades like this one, so this would be great addition to any rare coin collection.
