Nice. I found this online about Nice "The photographer was John F. Nice, born 28 January 1837 in Jersey Shore, Lycoming, Pennsylvania, the son of George P. Nice (1809-1877) and Eleanor (1812-1899, last name unknown). He would marry Elizabeth Lyman (1832-1895). In 1850, John was living in Jersey Shore, where his father was a coach maker, an occupation that was also listed for the 15-year old John Nice. In the 1860 census, he was in the same location, but listed his occupation as daguerreotype artist. In 1862 tax lists, he was listed as being in Jersey Shore, a photographer, and paid $10.00 for a Class B license, which he did again in 1863. In May 1864 he was located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and paid $15.00 for a Class B license; he also appears to have been in Jersey Shore in 1864. When he renewed his license in 1865, he was living in Lewisburg, but 1866 he had begun the move to Williamsport. He made the final moved to Williamsport in 1867 when he bought the studio of Jacob Mussin at 3 East 3rd, corner of Market Street. His studio would remain there until circa 1929. Circa 1877, he was joined in his photography business by his younger brother Robert Y. Nice (1848-1929). Although John still listed himself as a photographer in the 1900 census, in Williamsport directories he does not have a business address after 1883; this would be the case through 1923. Robert Y. Nice is listed as owning the photographer gallery at Third and Market. In the 1910 census, John listed no occupation, which would also be the case in 1920, while he was still in Williamsport and had apparently remarried. He would pass away on 10 Mary 1924 in Williamsport. 2.50"X4.00" good conditionPhotos are mailed in a clear cellophane bag that seals and backed w stiff cardboard for stability.
