Description: Stereoview photograph of a woman in a carriage at Central Park in New York City, by G.W. Pach, circa 1870s. The view, No. 432 from the series Scenes in Central Park and New York and identified in purple ink on the reverse as The Drive, shows a woman seated in a phaeton harnessed to a fine looking stallion parked on a paved drive in a park. Note the long whip set in the front of the carriage. I bet this rig could really move fast! The stereoview is in good or better condition with minimal wear and soiling. The photographs exhibit good or better tonal range (a tad light at edges) and show good or better detail. A very nice early horse and carriage image and a fun bit of Central Park history!
