Description: The Origin and Antiquity of Engraving: With Some Remarks on the Utility and Pleasures of Prints. Published in Philadelphia by George Gebbie. 1872, 62 pp, 6x9.5’’, hardcover binding. In fair condition. Covers and spine have some age-related toning and wear that has caused discoloration. There is slight tearing along the edges and the corners of the covers are slightly bent inwards. The first few pages are detached at the bottom. Some pencil inscriptions at the beginning of the volume from a previous owner. Pages have age-related toning and foxing. Hinges have some wear, but pages remain attached and generally have good support. Edges of pages have some wear and toning. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. This is an interesting look at engraving and how the practice has changed over time. Any issues with hinges or binding due to age or wear could provide an excellent opportunity for restoration or rebinding, if desired. FORN-ABE-MSB-Shelf-669-jr640
