This book presents a concise and accurate history of the progress of the States lying between the Alleghany and the Rocky Mountains north of the Ohio River, Arkansas, and the Indian Territory, of the three States of the Pacific Slope, and all of the Territories of the United States, except Alaska, from 1800 to the close of 1880. There is a fold-out Map of the Land Grants to Railroads and Wagon Roads on the frontispiece, and there are 15 full-page colour plates showing 19 diagrams.Green cloth boards with blind stamped lettering and decoration on the front board with gilt lettering on the spine. Minor marks on the boards with a little wear to the top and bottom of the spine. Black endpapers and gilt page top edge. Light foxing in a few places. Stain to bottom corner of pages 59-269.
