Description: For sale is a very interesting certified coin: a 1889-O Morgan Silver Dollar "Low Ball" graded and certified by NGC as Fair 2. One area of coin collecting is trying to find coins that can achieve the lowest possible grade. These are called "Low Balls," and for the most part Low Balls would only be the grades Poor 1 or Fair 2. And even though these grades are very worn coins, they actually can have higher value than high grade coins--the logic being it is just as rare to find extreme low grade coins as it is to find high ones. This coin here achieved Fair 2. If it was a Poor 1 it would likely be priced twice as high. In fact PCGS's price guide does include prices for Low Ball coins. As you can see from the pics the coin truly does earn its low Fair 2 grade. Even with the heavy wear you can still make out the date and mint mark. If you couldn't NGC would not have graded it. The coin has no damage, and being certified by NGC gives you the confidence of its low grade. This is a a very unique addition to any coin collection. Thanks!
