Ad on back for Dr. Wilbor's product, excellent condition, beautiful illustration Item 483655 ◊ 1890's Chromolithograph Scrap and Ad for "Dr. Wilbor's Cod-Liver Oil"- Quack Patent Medicine Very rare and fascinating "1890's Chromolithograph Scrap and Ad for "Dr. Wilbor's Cod-Liver Oil"- Quack Patent Medicine." This scrap was actually an extra-large sized Trade card, that a previous owner cut out to make a scrap. So it is not dye-cut, but it is extremely lovely. The scrap measures approx. 6-1/2 by 5" at the widest points. This scrap depicts three young children in their Victorian finery. In the back is a partial ad for Dr. Wilbor's product: Cod Liver Oil with Phosphates. It claims to cure Consumption, Coughs, Colds, Asthma, Bronchitis, Wasting Diseases, and all Scrofulous Humors. Presumably the children on the font of the Scrap have never had any of the ailments, which Dr. Wilbor claims to cure, although their parents may have given them Cod Liver Oil. But I'm sure these cute kids probably helped sell a lot of his product. Dr. Alex R. B. Wilbor was a chemist out of Boston, Massachusetts.Look at the picture of those 3 kids. Do they look healthy or what? I'm sure it's' because the mother "lovingly" gave them Dr. Wilbor's Cod Liver Oil every day!To learn more about this miracle of modern medicine, all you have to do is bid on this Auction. (Or look at the photos.)This wonderful and original "1890's Chromolithograph Scrap" is in excellent condition. The person who cut out the scrap had a lot of patience and did a very good job. The surface and edges are in great condition. The chromolithograph illustration is beautiful, very colorful, and incredibly realistic. The printing on the back is clear, but a little bit difficult to read (since some of it is missing.) And all this for a Scrap which is about 115 years old.
