Written by Anglo-Irish biographer and art critic Percy Fitzgerald. Complete in two handsomely bound volumes. This edition was based on a previous biographical work of Sterne published by Chapman and Hall in 1864, also written by Fitzgerald, though this edition has been rewritten with new additions. Including an illustrated frontispiece of Sterne to Volume I, collated and complete. Containing the small stamp of a previous owner to the front blank of each volume: 'R.F. Brandt'. CONDITION Handsomely bound in half calf with marbled boards and refreshed endpapers. Externally, lovely, with just some light fading and rubbing to the spines. A few light pencil inscriptions to the odd page, particularly to the title page of Volume I. A few spots to the first and last few pages, though pages are otherwise bright and clean.
