Description: This delicate carved wood Emperor figure is centuries old and could depict Kangxi whose reign ended with his death in 1722. The figure seated on a throne still has some of the original polychrome pigment and gold gilt from centuries ago. The Emperor’s right hand was apparently broken off a long time ago and both arms of the throne have damage, one more recent than the other. Someone also nailed a piece of newer wood to the bottom about a century ago most likely to stabilize the base of the figure which is most susceptible to getting cracks from shrinkage. I do recommend getting a display case for it and avoid touching it more than necessary. The piece of Chinese history measures 8 inches tall by 4 inches wide.
