VICTORIA RINK NOTES:The Victoria Skating Rink opened on December 24, 1862.The rink later became the first electrified public building in Canada.The rink was used year round for skating, hockey, events, and music.The 1870 skating carnival was held in honour of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught.The event hosted hundreds of skaters, some in costumes and military dress.On March 3, 1875, the rink hosted the first organized hockey game.
