THE EPWORTH LEAGUE HISTORY: The Epworth League was organized at Cleveland, O., May 15, 1889, by the combination of five young people's organizations of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The first meeting of the Board of Control was held in Chicago in February, 1890. The publication of the Epworth Herald was authorized by the Book Committee in February, 1890. The League was officially recognized by the General Conference of 1892. The First International Epworth League Convention was held in Cleveland, O., in 1893. These conventions were held biennially until the Denver Convention, in 1905, since which they have been made quadrennial. They have occurred in Cleveland, Chattanooga, Toronto, Indianapolis, San Francisco, Detroit, Denver, and Seattle.
