He was discovered by the conductor Felix Mottl and studied with Gustav Walter in Vienna and with Eduard Bellwidt in Frankfurt aM 1897, he debuted at the Municipal Theatre of Freiburg i Br as Alessandro Stradella von Flotow. From there he was at the 1900 Frankfurt Opera House, where he served as the inaugural Lyonel role in Flotow's "Martha" was singing, and he belonged to in 1906. In 1902, he joined in Frankfurt in the world premiere of "Sleeping Beauty" by Humperdinck in the game on the Prince. 1906-11 he sang at the Court Theatre of Wiesbaden. There he was greatly admired by the young Richard Tauber. On 23/01/1910 he participated in the world premiere of the opera "Banadietrich" by Siegfried Wagner at the court theater of Karlsruhe. 1911-12 was experienced at the Bayreuth Festival's Parsifal and his lodge in the Ring Cycle. The latter batch 1911-14 he also sang at Covent Garden Opera London. 1911-12 he was at the Metropolitan Opera New York engaged (debut as Siegmund in "Die Walküre"), 1912 at the Opera of Chicago. 1912-29 he worked first as a celebrated hero and Wagner tenor at the Hamburg Municipal Theatre (Opera House). In 1914, he sang both at the Covent Garden Opera London and at the Brussels Opera Parsifal in the local premieres of the work. He has appeared in Copenhagen and Berlin, Vienna and Munich, Paris, Zurich (1907 as Lohengrin, Siegmund and Siegfried 1912) and in Amsterdam, including here 1910 as Lohengrin.
