Simmons was a cornerstone on the great Connie Mack led teams that battled the Yankees every season in the mid-late twenties. The A's finally broke through and won A.L titles in 1929, 1930, and 1931.. In those 3 seasons Simmons led the team in batting with a .379 batting average.
