It was struck at the Berlin Mint in 1929, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Weimar Constitution. This was the only year these were struck. The "Weimar" government of Germany, named for the city they formed the government in, lasted from 1919, after World War I, until 1933 when Hitler became chancellor and the “Nationalsozialisten” or Nazi party, otherwise known as the "National Socialists" took over. Weight: 15.00 Grams, 30 Millimeters, .500 Silver. Mintage: 1,421,000. "Standard Catalog of World Coins" (1901-2000) by Krause-Mishler. #63. Obverse: DEUTSCHES REICH • 3 REICHMARK • v. HINDENBURG • REICHS- • PRÄSIDNET • Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg left. Hindenburg was a Field Marshal who led the German army during World War I and later became President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. In 1933 Hindenburg was in declining health and showing signs of senility. His deteriorating condition made it difficult for him to effectively govern, and he relied heavily on his advisors. This situation contributed to his decision to appoint Adolf Hitler as Chancellor, as his advisors believed they could control Hitler and stabilize the government. We all know how that worked out.
