Description: Up for auction is this very nice Vintage Advertisement from COMMONWEALTH EDISON. "A Means of Contact Between the Makers of Electricity and the People Who Use It." This is a pamphlet that probably came with your Electric bill. It is called "Edison Service News". It is Vol. 8 No. 3. It is dated March, 1933. The front page features this statement: "Edison Service is so dependable and convenient to use that it is simply taken for granted, and few people give a thought to its actual economy. Here is what one cent's worth of electricity does in Chicago: - makes fifteen cups of coffee - makes fifteen slices of toast - heats an iron twenty minutes - operates a cooker thirty minutes - heats a waffle iron twenty minutes - heats a grill twenty minutes - runs a washer 1 hour and 15 minutes - warms a heating pad more than four hours - operates a heater twenty minutes - runs a vacuum 1 hour and 15 minutes - runs a clock more than one hundred hours - cooks 26 three-minute eggs - runs a sewing machine four hours - operates a radio more than 3 hours - operates a health lamp thirty minutes - runs a fan four hours - runs an exerciser more than one hour - lights a floor lamp for more than three hours or an indirect floor lamp for 30 minutes (Wonder what it buys today ?) The back page of the pamphlet has articles entitled: "Light-Weight Electric Iron Saves Time and Energy" "Chicago Soon to Welcome Millions of Visitors" and ads entitled: "Beautify Your Home for the Fair" "Health and Energy With Indoor Sunshine" The inside of the pamphlet has articles entitled: "New Short-Wave Tuning Dial Increases Radio Enjoyment". "Floor Sample Refrigerators Offer $ 50 Saving" "Lower Prices For Electric Outlets" "Care of Table Linens" "This Toaster Winks at You When Its Job Is Done" "Lamp Renewals Save Money for Customers" an ad for "A Federal Suction Cleaner with All Attachments for Only $ 34.50" and a Recipe for Delicious Waffles. And don't forget" "Free home demonstrations", "...may be bought on the Monthly Budget Plan...", "Liberal trade-in allowance" The pamphlet is in VERY GOOD Condition. The paper is crisp with no rips or tears. It is free from dirt or stains. It is tri-folded as it most likely was mailed with an Electric bill. All print is clear and true. The corners are sharp. It measures approximately 51/2" x 83/4" closed and 11" x 83/4" open.
