It is dated February 2, 1939, the year World War II began. Following the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939, this year, France, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and India declared war on Germany and World War II began. A long running series, France printed this basic design 100 Francs note from 1909, before World War I, with various signature combinations, until this last year, 1939.
