Description: Very scarce treatise on alchemy by Archibald Cockren , who was reputed to be highly successful in the Great Arcanum. There is no date nor publisher stated. The hardcover printing had no date stated either but is thought to have been published in 1941. I suspect this edition was put out not too long after , late 40s - 50s. The pages are tanned and it has that good seasoned smell to it. The cover format is the same as the dustcover of the hardcover edition. Apart from the author’s writings , the book contains Paracelsus’s interpretation of The Book of The Revelation of Hermes ( concerning the supreme secret of the world ) , The Smaragdine Tables of Hermes Trismegistus , ‘ Aureus ‘ or The Golden Tractate. “ The object of this book is to place before the reader in language as simple as possible the story of alchemy. Because the literature on this science has ever been an enigma to both the scientific and the lay mind, it is the earnest desire of the author to present it stripped of its symbolism, and to give some indication of its processes, its achievements, and its possibilities. He wishes to show that this science is the Law operating behind all Manifestation in Man; Man that is in his entirety, physical, mental, and spiritual, and to demonstrate how it is bound up in the further evolution and unfoldment of the race, for without this understanding the vision of Man made perfect is impossible. The following history of the alchemist’s struggle towards attainment the writer places before his readers in the hope that they may find therein some guiding star to pilot them through the mists and storms of this physical existence and enable them to catch a glimpse of the Divine Plan for the unfolding to Man of the knowledge of his Divine Sonship, on that long journey back to the Divine Realization of his Unity with Life. “ - from preface Tags : alchemy , Hermes , Thoth , Paracelsus , Agrippa , franz bardon , aleister Crowley, Israel regardie , William walker Atkinson, kybalion , transmutation , raja yoga , ascension , dee , theosophy, Blavatsky, franz Hartmann , magick , golden dawn ,
