Dearborn, Mich.......Greatest open mining pit in the world is the Mesabi range in northern Minnesota, source of much of the high grade ore filling the nation's blast furnaces to supply the auto industry with iron and steel products. Ore from the mine is shipped by rail to Duluth where it is picked up by such carriers as the Benson Ford for the trip to down-lake blast furnaces. Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches.
