Description: I call this the spitting Lincoln wheat penny because of the trajectory of the die strike from the face to almost the rim on the obverse. There is a die strike on Lincoln’s collar and along his hair line on the side of his head above the temple. There are die cuds on his jaw, on his ear lobe and slight doubling or cuds on the I, G, T and S in “In God We Trust.” On the reverse, there is a die strike on under the E in Cent and small die cuds on the E, S and M in “E Pluribus Unum.” This is considered a post World War cent commemorating a time when people were hopeful about recovering from its damages with optimism.
