Description: For sale is a very cool 1953-A $5 Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates were a type of old currency where any person could take the Certificate into a Federal Reserve Bank and exchange the Certificate for the value of that denomination in silver. So if you have a $5 Silver Certificate, the bank would exchange it for $5 worth of silver, which at the time would have been 5 silver dollars. You could also spend it just like any other U.S. bill. The seal and serial numbers on the note is blue. Lastly, another interesting thing about these 1953 Notes is it is the last year to not have the motto "In God We Trust" on the reverse like modern notes do.As you can see from the pics the note is in great shape, and it would be considered high grade. It still have much of its crispness to it and the blue and green prints are bold and vibrant. It does have folds to it, but has no tears, rips, or major stains, but the Notes biggest flaw is it does have a number written on the obverse in ink. I did reduce the price of the Note due to the ink, otherwise it would be priced higher.This is great vintage currency to add to to any currency collection at a low price. Thanks!
