Description: Collectable Clocks: 1954 Schatz 400 Day Anniversary Clock - Germany - Rare, Complete - Needs Work This clock was made in July 1954 by August Schatz & Sons, Triberg, Black Forest, Germany. It is a 400 Day Clock, also known as an Anniversary Clock. It is in all original condition, complete with brass pendulum, glass dome, key, and paperwork. I acquired this clock in 1978 from the original owner. I used it lightly over the years, displaying and running it from time to time, and it always worked fine. At the moment it is not running correctly. Since everything appears in good condition, I hope only minor adjustments are needed. Here is more information about this beautiful old clock: The front of the clock has a nice 3 inch diamond shaped face labeled Schatz. The back of the clock is labeled No (0) Jewels, Unadjusted, 7 54, Aug. Schatz & Sohne, 49, Germany. This means it was made in July 1954 by August Schatz & Sons, Germany, Model 49. The base is 7.5 inches across, and is marked Aug. Schatz & Sohne, Germany. There are three adjustable feet for leveling the clock. There is a torsional pendulum that hangs from a suspension wire. This moves in and out to adjust the time. There is a glass dome measuring 5.5 inches wide and 10.25 inches tall. When assembled on the clock, the whole clock is 11.5 inches tall. There is a 2.5in long metal winding key. The original paperwork includes an envelope for the instruction book, key, and spare suspension wire (the extra wire is not present). The instruction book is a foldout labeled Your Original Schatz 400 Day Clock, and has lots of pictures and information. There is another foldout sheet labeled Instructions For Unpacking. There is a small sheet from A. Schatz & Sons, Triberg/Black Forest, Germany with information about service for purchasers in the USA. There is a transportation tag from A. Schatz & Sons, Triberg labeled E.E.S. No. 1972, one 400 day clock No. 1215, Oktober 1954. There is an original hang tag labeled Original Schatz Quality Clock, Triberg, Black Forest (and the same thing in German on the other side). This is an excellent value for a rare version of this wonderful clock in such complete condition. Please see the photo. I’ve provided the information that I like to see when I am buying things for myself, so I hope it’s complete. If not, please email any questions.
