The Original First Edition was not received well by the First Presidency. Consequently later editions were changed. All 1958 Printings are unchanged, the changes did not happen until the 1966 second edition. Some examples in this 1958 first edition: "the posterity of Cain (and later of Ham) were cursed with what we call Negroid racial characteristics. The race and nation in which people are born in this world is a direct result of their preexistent life. Negroes in this life are denied the Priesthood; under no circumstances can they hold this delegation of authority from the Almighty. Those who practice birth control... ...are running counter to the foreordained plan of the Almighty. They are in open rebellion against God and are guilty of gross wickedness. Perhaps the most controversial piece omitted in future editions is the Great and Abominable church of the Devil pointed out as the Catholic Church.Very good condition for its age. Some light scuffing on front and back covers. Spine is looking a little worn, but still sturdy. Inscribed inside front cover, "Laura S. Hyde 3944 Balt. St., Kensington MD". Pages are all clean and bound tightly. I see only one highlighted section. Really nice copy!
