Additionally, with the humid unstable climate, you get pages which are entirely foxed, tanned and yellowish, even if they are only 60-80 years old. Further, the fact that Israel was a newly born immigration state where refugees from WW2 were gathered to create a new nation, book preservation was not much on the list.
