Description: This is a fully restored mid 1960s Harmony H-162. It has solid mahogany back and sides, Spruce top, tortoise shell binding, poplar neck, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, steel re-enforced neck, original tuners, nut, frets, and end pin. It also has a replacement bridge, period correct old stock, and a new compensated bone saddle. I was given this guitar to save it from the trash. It needed a new bridge, the top was split above the sound hole and was warped, there were loose braces and it needed a neck re-set. I would also find that it had a broken neck block. There were no cracks or spits in the sides or back.I removed the neck, and found the damage to the neck block (which led to all the other damage). I was able to repair that using epoxy, then went about flattening then top, re-gluing the loose braces and adding in popsicle braces on either side of the sound hole to re-enforce that area. The tuners work just fine so I greased them and left them as is to keep the vintage vibe. I glued on a new, old stock, period bridge and routed the saddle slot for a compensated bone saddle. All repairs other than the neck block were done with hot hide glue. I also did a full set up on the guitar. String height is set to Martin factory specs, 3/32 on the 12th fret, Low E string and 2/32 on the 12th fret, high E string. No buzzes anywhere on the neck.It all came together extremely well. The larger, compensated bone saddle makes for excellent intonation up and down the neck. That 60 year old mahogany and that bone saddle gives the guitar a wonderfully rich, full tone with plenty of clarity and brilliance. The neck has a full D profile, is slightly larger than modern guitar necks, but is definitely NOT a baseball bat neck. The finish is all original and does have a few dings and nicks, but other than a few places where someone ran a pick down the top (pic 3), it's in surprisingly good shape. If you are looking for a solid wood vintage guitar that won't break the bank, this one is worth considering. Comes in a beat up but functional cardboard case.
