Description: 1961 JAMAICA QUEEN ELIZABETH II ONE PENNY COIN - BRITISH COLONIAL ERA KM 37 This 1961 Jamaican penny is from the last days of British rule. Jamaica gained independence from the UK in 1962, and 1969 was the first year that Jamaica issued its own sovereign coinage. Prior to 1969, Jamaica used UK Sterling coinage: pennies, sixpence, schillings, and half crowns. The obverse features a young portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse features the coat of arms with Arawaks, pineapples, and the motto on a ribbon. Please check out my other unique collectible items!!
