Bookplate to the front paste down of Plexus. The Rosy Crucifixion trilogy is a fictionalised account of Henry Miller's six years in Brooklyn, as he fell for his second wife, June, and struggled to become a writer, which led to his leaving for Paris in 1928. The trilogy was originally banned in the US, and was only published in France and Japan. It wasn't until 1964 that the Supreme Court allowed it to be published. Plexus is the second volume in this trilogy, exploring Miller's marriage to Mona and his attempts to become a writer. Nexus is the third volume in this trilogy, in which Miller and Mona depart from Paris together. CONDITION In publisher's original cloth bindings; Plexus with original price-clipped dust wrapper, Nexus with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is very smart, with a small bump and stain to the spine of Plexus. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, except for some spotting to the fore edge of Nexus, which affects the occasional page. Light shelf wear to the extremities of the dust wrappers. Two small closed tears to the spine of the wrap to Plexus. Slight sunning to the wrap of Nexus, more so to the spine. Otherwise, dust wrappers are in smart condition.
