X-rays showed Washkansky's new heart, taken from a 25-year-old woman killed in an auto accident, was working well December 5th. Washkansky, 55, was still in an oxygen tent but sipped soup and joked with nurses. The operation was performed December 3rd. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1967.
