An astronaut's footprint is seen in the upper centre of the image, and a gnomon instrument on the lower right side.Before driving back to Taurus-Littrow base for the journey back to Earth, Eugene Cernan photographed rocks and footprints left by the moonwalkers near the gnomon at station 9, the last station visited on the lunar surface at Van Serg Crater, symbolizing the last passage of humans on the Moon.
