This program was gifted to Hugh Pickett with a typed letter from a friend (unsigned). The letter states that this Charity Event was the last time Jimmy Durante was able to perform. This was a benefit for the Hear Foundation. This program has many celebrity greetings as well as pages devoted to the people who gave donations. Hugh Pickett, a Canadian impresario who made major contributions to Vancouver's arts and entertainment scene. Pickett ran a company, Famous Artists Ltd., an artistic management company dedicated to sponsoring appearances by artists and ballet and theatre companies in Vancouver and Victoria. In 1992, Pickett was instrumental in establishing the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame. A world-class storyteller, no one in British Columbia has played as large a role in show business as Pickett, from the earliest days of Theatre Under the Stars in the 40s and 50s, through his years as head of Vancouver’s principal booking agency, to his hundreds of lecture-tours at the Orpheum. Hugh’s connection to the entertainment world spanned the entire 20th century and into the 21st.
