The para-dox is that the purist Indian and RoyalEnfield fans will both dispute that theywere truly Indians, but for differentreasons. The Indian fanatic believes unlessit had deep front wheel pants fendersand went by the name Scout or Chief,it can't be an Indian. Ed unpiledit enough to know he wanted it, madean acceptable offer, and so, in 1 967,nine years after it was made, becamethe Enfield trike's first registeredowner. The original condition and theexpert job of restoration done by Edcan be appreciated by viewing thesnap shot taken by Ed just after get-ting his trike home. The trike is basically customizedstock with three major exceptions. Thesingle cylinder mill was replaced bya 750 twin, the frame was shortenedabout three inches, and the metalutility service box was replaced witha sharp woodie in birch. The complete restoration and re-building took four years but it wasworth it. In four times out Ed hastaken four class firsts with it—all in... 11179-7302-24
