Popular Quartet...Pontiac's popular Firebirds continue to be offered in four versions for 1978: the regular Firebird, the stylish Esprit and the performance-oriented Trans Am (top) and Formula (bottom). A Special Trans Am performance package includes a revised T/A 6.6-litre (400 cid) V-8 engine, Rally RTS suspension, eight-inch cast aluminum wheels and larger tires. All Firebirds sport a new grille design and several new radio options, including an integral AM/FM/CB and an AM/FM stereo radio with cassette tape player. Standard engines are the 3.8-litre (231 cid) V-6 for the regular Firebird and the Esprit, the 5-0 litre (305 cid) V-8 for the Formula and the 6.6-litre V-8 for the Trans Am.
