Description: Up for sale is an extremely rare and very hard to find 1979 Kelloggs Baseball 3D Superstars Cereal Box Cutout of Orioles Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer, Saint Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame catcher Ted Simmons, San Francisco Giants pitcher Vida Blue, Detroit Tigers first baseman Jason Thompson, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Gary Maddox, and Cleveland Indians third baseman Buddy Bell. This represents a portion of a Kelloggs Cereal Box from 1979 which was an advertisement for the 1979 Kelloggs Baseball 3D Superstars. Inside the box that this cut out originated were individual baseball cards. This cutout is in acceptable condition. It features surface scratches, smudges, scuff marks, soiling, and discoloration and yellowing due to age. It was also "hand cut" so the borders are not centered and in rough shape. The back (inside of the box) is blank amd and also features imperfections including stains, scuff marks and soiling. Despite it's raw condition and many imperfections ot would make a great addition to the collection of any Vida Blue, Jim Palmer, Jason Thompson, Gary Maddox, Ted Simmons, or Buddy Bell fan. It would also be perfect for any San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, or Cleveland Indians fan. It would also make the perfect addition to the collector of vintage baseball, oddball, or baseball cereal box memorabilia. The three-dimensional cards included the same quality checklist of players and the replica signatures. For the second straight year, Kelloggs included its own logo on the front at the top of the cards. One change from prior years was that the set was the companys largest release since 1971. In the four previous years, Kelloggs stuck with 57 cards. That changed for 1979 when they moved to a 60-card set, giving collectors a few more cards to find in order to complete their sets. The other big difference was the size of the cards. Kelloggs moved to a slimmer issue with cards measuring just under two inches in width. The companys previous sets checked in either at 2 1/4 or 2 1/8 wide. Backs were printed in blue ink against a white background. There, collectors would find statistical information as well as a short biography of the player in question. This promotional piece is far more rare and hard to find than the actual cards themselves.
