Description: Up for sale, a 1991 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57-770LS in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This rare “Made in Japan” Stratocaster is finished in custom color Candy Apple Green and outfitted with original gold hardware, taking design cues from Fender's nascent Eric Clapton signature models, featuring a soft V-shaped neck profile and a trio of USA-made Lace Sensor Gold pickups. The tonewood combination of an alder body and one-piece maple neck yields a clear, balanced natural acoustic profile, providing an ideal platform for the trio of Lace Sensor Gold pickups. As the pickup that started it all for Lace, the Gold design was specifically engineered to deliver a '50s Strat bell-like snap and chime. The Lace pickups feature a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string to string balance than traditional guitar pickups. This Strat is lightweight at 7lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The one-piece maple neck has a medium depth soft V-shaped profile carve with gently rolled fretboard edges and ideal heft, rounding out to a fuller C in the upper registers, measuring .870” deep at the first fret and .970” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius, and the slender fretwire shows light wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-2, with wear growing lighter and extending beneath the plain strings until the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the locking Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and K-prefix serial are present above the gold “Fender”-embossed four-bolt neck plate, and the neck heel and pocket retain the factory stamps, including the 6-12-91 pencil date on the heel. All of the electronics function as intended, and the upgraded harness features modern USA-made CTS pots and a Sprague Orange Drop cap. The pickups are governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and Volume/Tone/Tone control configuration. While this model originally had active electronics, that circuitry has been removed in favor of a traditional passive Strat control layout. The original gold hardware shows some requisite surface patina, and plastics include the uniformly aged trio of knobs, the three-ply white pickguard, and the pickup covers with “Fender Lace Sensor” gold text. The gloss custom color Candy Apple Green finish exhibits various dings on the body as a whole and one larger finish chip on the bass-side lower bout edge. There is also some scuffing in the clear coat on the back body edge and behind the bridge on top. The neck profile retains its smooth ambered gloss, with several shallow marks along the profile length that don't distract the palm while fretting. A modern Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
