Description: 2 Creil et Montereau Terre de Fer 6 1/2” plates-‘Les Sports’ Nos. 1 & 10. 2 19th Century French LES SPORTS Creil & Montereau Zeppelin Plates, made in 1886 depicting Les Sports. Each of these figural cabinet plates have crisp black & white transfer printed illustrations surrounded by a blue floral border. Story plates, or "Assiettes Parlantes" {talking plates} were produced by many fine faience houses in the mid to late 1800's. These illustrate sports, Catonage (boating) and Automobile. These are particularly collectable. Considered "fine" plates, which refers to the ability of the transfer process to replicate rather finely drawn images. Perfect to display on a wall, and a luxury gift to someone you love who adores rare French faience plates. These 2 plates are in great condition considering their age. There is crazing and some discoloration, which you expect from such old items. But there are no chips or cracks.
