The ceramic material ensure that your oils and vinegars stay fresh for longer (although olive oil shouldn't be kept anywhere near a hot cooking surface!!!) I believe only the oil cruet had been used, I hand washed them both out and air dried, although they are dishwasher safe (they could go through another washing cycle as the oil cruet still feels a little oily), NB: I pack breakables as if they are going to be mistreated during shipment, lots of bubble wrap, peanuts, etc, naturally this adds to shipping cost, it is my hope that breakables arrive in one piece to their new home. 99% of my packaging comes from the community and is recycled, therefore I have no knowledge if it has been around pets, cigarette smoke, etc. Thanks for looking!!
